Code of Ethics

To emphasize the elements of enjoyment and satisfaction to players and coaches involved in soccer.

To make adults, including parents and coaches, aware that young player's play soccer to satisfy themselves and not necessarily to satisfy adults or member's of their own peer group.

To improve the overall health and fitness of young players by encouraging participation in soccer and making it attractive, safe and enjoyable for all to play.

To remind administrator's, coach's, referee's and parents that soccer must be administered, taught and provided, for the good of those young people who wish to play soccer, as ultimately "It is their game".

To instill the “Love of the Game” into each young soccer player.

Code of Ethics

I will teach, develop and promote the game of soccer consistent with this Code of Ethics.

I will be available and on time for practices, training and games.

I will respect the rights, dignity and worth of all players and ensure that everyone is treated equally.

I will ensure that the players are involved in a positive environment, and that the game and training is a positive and enjoyable experience. I will convey a consistently positive attitude to all players, officials, referees, parents, and other participants.

I will teach through positive reinforcement and refrain from negative personal comments. I will instill the desire for excellence and the motivation to succeed.

I will respect each player’s individuality and help each player reach his or her own full potential. I will support and develop the confidence and self-esteem of each player by continually inviting them to reach for their highest potential both as individuals and as a team.

I will be fair, considerate and honest with all players.

I will be professional and accept responsibility for my actions and encourage players to demonstrate the same qualities.

I will make a commitment to my team, and myself that I will continue to improve my own knowledge of the game through continued education and various training programs.

I will coach and train my player's to play within the rules and in the spirit of the game of soccer.

I will avoid any physical contact with the players and should it be required it would be appropriate to the situation and necessary for the player's skill development.

I will refrain from any form of personal abuse towards my players. Also, I will be aware as to any form of abuse directed towards my players from other sources while they are in my care.

I will refrain from any form of harassment towards my players.

I will protect the health and safety of all players when under my control.

I will provide a safe environment for training and competition, by ensuring the equipment and facilities meet safety standards. I will give attention to appropriate safety practices, including the inspection of sport gear and the reporting of any hazardous facility conditions.

I will conduct safe and well-organized practice sessions/instruction that will enable players to develop and improve their skills. The practice sessions will be designed to improve individual and team skills and to develop the mental and physical capabilities of all members of the team.

I will show concern and caution towards sick and injured players and allow for further participation in training and competition only when appropriate.

I will not engage in the use of crude, foul or abusive language that may be determined offensive or engage in any conduct detrimental to the image of the game when on or off the field. I will at all times refrain from vulgar language and to discourage its use by team members and spectators.

I will refrain from arguing with the referee and/or assistant referees regarding decisions they make. I will refrain from raising my voice or making comments or gestures that express disagreement with referee calls. I will hold any discussions with officials in an appropriate manner, out of the presence or hearing of players or spectators.

I will treat participants, officials, coaches and spectators with courtesy and respect. I will not address any negative comments to players, officials, coaches or spectators.

I will always encourage my team to play within the laws of the game. I will promote fair play and good sportsmanship. I will measure success by more than the score, and to teach the lessons of grace and class in the face of defeat or victory. I will lead by example in the demonstration of sportsmanship as it relates to the team, other teams, spectators and game officials.

I will not consent to the use of any banned substance or drugs of dependence by my players.

I will not use alcoholic beverages, tobacco products, or controlled substances on or near practice or game fields.

I will act in a responsible manner and accept responsibility for my actions.

I have read the Code of Ethics of the Darien Dynamo Soccer Club and STP Soccer, LLC and I agree to abide by it.
